Woburn
Nursing Center, the original Salter HealthCare home,
has 140 beds. It is a dynamic facility that has responded
to health care reform head-on. Innovative changes In
response to consumer and industry demands are a hallmark
of the Woburn Nursing Center, which was the first JCAHO
accredited subacute unit in Massachusetts and 5th in
the nation.
In 1991,
Woburn Nursing Center developed a
Transitional Rehabilitation/Subacute Medical
program to provide unique care
to those
patients who require treatment to regain
their ability to live independently in the
community. Woburn Nursing Center has
five distinct programs that meet the needs
of a Subacute population: Complex Medical
(including Oncology), Post Surgical IV
Therapy, Pain Management, Wound Management,
and Complex Rehabilitation. We employ our
own physical, occupational, and speech
therapist who are committed to providing the
highest quality of care to this
population. A specially equipped Therapy
Gym and home-like kitchen model is available
which allows patients to practice daily
living skills prior to going home.

Woburn Nursing
Center has a 37 Alzheimer Special Care Unit
dedicated to adding quality to the lives of the
residents with Alzheimer's Disease and other
related dementia along with their
caregivers. Woburn Nursing Center has a
Program Director that works closely with
the Recreation department, and provides
Alzheimer's Training for our caregivers on the
Special Care Unit. Our Therapeutic Recreation
Program contains a diverse program of activities
that appeal to our residents varied interests,
capabilities, and functional status.
