For the third consecutive year, Salter HealthCare is pleased to announce that Woburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has been awarded a deficiency-free survey by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Located at 18 Frances Street in Woburn, MA, the Woburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a 140-bed, skilled nursing facility that specializes in short-term rehabilitation as well as traditional long-term nursing, hospice and respite care.
Every nine to fifteen months, The Massachusetts Department of Public Health performs unannounced evaluations of health care facilities to assess compliance with state and federal regulations. The rigorous survey examines a myriad of quality, safety and performance issues, including medication management, cleanliness, environmental safety, administrative effectiveness, and respect for the rights and dignity of patients. With the ever-more demanding regulations for Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing facilities, it is significant for facilities like Woburn to achieve a perfect score on the survey. These ratings are a useful tool for prospective patients and families when assessing and choosing a rehab or nursing facility.
Cheryl Evangelista, RN, BSN, NHA, Executive Director and Barbara Johanson, RN, MS, BC, CCM, Director of Nursing Services, have over 25 years of combined service at the Woburn facility. Woburn’s post-acute medical and transitional rehabilitation programs provide care focused on helping patients regain the ability to live independently in their community following surgery, injury or illness. The Woburn Center employs its own staff of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists who provide daily therapy services utilizing state-of-the-art clinical therapies. A specially equipped therapy gym includes a home-like model, which allows patients to practice activities of daily living prior to returning home.
Special amenities available to short-term rehab patients include updated private rooms, in-room telephones and flat screen televisions with cable service, WiFi, free parking, hairdressing/barber services, an emergency call system, and common spaces for social activities.
Woburn’s intensive skilled nursing programs include IV therapy, surgical aftercare, wound care, pain management and hospice and respite care. Woburn also offers diverse therapeutic programs that appeal to patients’ varied interests, capabilities, and functional status.
