Salter HealthCare is pleased to announce the state-of-the-art upgrades to the rehabilitation gym at Woburn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center are scheduled for completion by the end of February.
Located at 18 Frances Street in Woburn, the center is a 140-bed, skilled nursing facility specializing in short-term rehabilitation as well as traditional long-term nursing, hospice and respite care.
The remodeled gym will feature brand-new rehabilitation equipment including, parallel bars, step bike and high-low mats. An adjoining conference room, hair salon and fully-applianced kitchen are included in the renovation project. The model kitchen allows patients to practice activities of daily living before returning home following rehabilitative therapy.
“We are excited about renovating and updating our rehab space and equipment to better serve our patients and meet the growing demand for rehab services here in our community,” said Cheryl Evangelista, RN, BSN, NHA, Executive Director of the Woburn facility. “The new gym will help our therapists guide our rehab patients to a full recovery and help them regain their ability to live independently following complex medical treatments, accidents or surgeries.”
The demand for physical therapists is expected to increase 36% in the next decade, mainly because aging baby boomers are staying active later in life. Knee replacement surgeries have more than doubled in the last ten years, with the number of hip replacements increasing as well. Today’s seniors want to live highly active lifestyles and are much more willing to undergo surgery that requires a recovery process involving physical therapy.
With highly skilled health care teams and top-of-the-line rehabilitative services, Salter HealthCare is able to treat patients with a wide range of needs. There are five distinct rehabilitative programs available at the Woburn facility, including Complex Medical, Post Surgical IV Therapy, Pain Management, Wound Management, and Complex Rehabilitation.
