Patient Advocate & Spiritual Leader Awarded for Enduring Commitment to Salter Residents
Samuel “Sam” Eugene Toto, Ed.D., a Salter HealthCare volunteer and Medford resident, was presented with the Gershon Salter Community Service Award on March 7, 2017 at Winchester Nursing Center by Richard Salter, one of the owners of Salter HealthCare. Over 100 people attended a special ceremony dedicated to recognizing Toto for his outstanding service in catering to the spiritual needs of Salter residents, including assisted with monthly masses and the biannual anointing of the sick. To “Thank you Sam!” shouts from the audience, Toto accepted the award with a moving acceptance speech that addressed the love we have for one another and the award being a testimony to our faith. His affiliation with Salter began when his mother was a resident at Winchester Rehabilitation & Nursing Center and has continued for the past 3 years.
