Mass Department of Public Health Awards Salter Community with Top Indication of Skilled Nursing Facility Excellence
Salter HealthCare, one of Massachusetts’s most trusted leaders in rehabilitation and skilled nursing care, today announced that Winchester Rehabilitation & Nursing Center has received a coveted deficiency-free survey from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for the third straight year, indicating perfect compliance with the Commonwealth’s stringent standards for skilled nursing care. A rarity in Massachusetts, Winchester Rehab is now on an elite list of those providing the highest level of care.
A deficiency-free result in the Commonwealth’s rigorous annual examination is one of the top indications of excellence for nursing facilities. In perhaps the most regulated industry within the Massachusetts and across the nation, nursing facilities are thoroughly surveyed and rated on core criteria including quality care, safety, administration, food service, nursing care and patient rights. The unannounced inspections by representatives from the Department of Public Health are conducted annually. The evaluation, which is conducted by a team consisting of at least one registered nurse and social worker, includes a review of residents’ and patients’ clinical records, a thorough tour of the facility, and interviews with residents, patients, family members, and staff members.
